Creating Art: Content and Purpose

  • For intermediate to experienced artists
  • This class is an invitation to artists working in any two-dimensional medium including painting, drawing, collage, and mixed media, to explore the content and purpose of your pictures. What is the purpose of your work? What is important? How will you go about creating art that reflects your purpose? What is the content of your artwork? Why have you chosen that? How will you represent it in a way that supports your purpose? We often create pictures without too much thought, but this will be a class that challenges you to go beyond the habitual. You will be encouraged to ask demanding questions of yourself and your art practice, and to work on art that pushes you out of your comfort zone.
  • Supplies extra
  • There will be no class February 18, 2019.
