Weed Control in Organic Agriculture (PLSC 234.3) Home Study

Non-Credit Online Course

As organic farming continues to grow, farmers respond to the lucrative and expanding world market for healthy organic food, grown in an environmentally sustainable manner. To succeed in organic farming, producers need to develop systems based on the biological and ecological relationships of their farms. Weed control is an important component in organic management.

Course curriculum covers:

  • principals and practices of weed management in organic field crop production
  • aspects of basic weed biology and ecology that make weeds vulnerable to various management techniques
  • practical cultural, mechanical and biological techniques within an integrated weed management system
  • online group discussions
  • opportunity to develop an organic weed management system for your operation
